Technical standards have for some time now been an integral part of product safety, and are fundamental to protecting the consumer. In this area, Certottica plays an active role in implementing and reviewing regulations, supporting the relationship between manufacturers and standardisation bodies within the framework of the free circulation of goods and services on global markets.

For the Institute, making a contribution to the development of standards means staying up to date on the test procedures to be carried out and ensuring that standards for designing and manufacturing products are scrupulously applied. For firms, it means having a reliable benchmark to count on for support.

Among Certottica’s aims are:

  • the active, critical application of the standards currently in force;

  • ongoing, up-to-date monitoring of the development of new standards and/or reviews under way regarding existing standards;

  • to take part in work conducted on standardisation in the appropriate national and international settings.
