A product certificate is a document which proves that a device has undergone a certification process by an authorised third party to assess its conformity to the essential health and safety requisites set out in European regulations.
For Category II and III eye and face protection devices — such as goggles, face shields, and visors for protection against non-ionizing radiation, welding shields, visors for motorcycle and moped users, and eye protection devices against dust, gases, and liquids — obtaining EU type examination certificates from a notified body, such as Certottica, is mandatory before placing them on the market.

To initiate the product certification process, the manufacturer must submit a duly completed application for EU type examination and the technical documentation in accordance with Annex III of Regulation (EU) 2016/425. This includes the test reports necessary for the technical validation of the device being submitted for EU type examination, as required by Annex V (Module B) of Regulation (EU) 2016/425.

Testing application
Once Certottica’s quote has been accepted, the EC type-examination certificate application sent you by the sales office or downloaded on the following link must be filled in and sent off together with the samples to be tested:
The EC type-examination application must be filled in correctly as shown in the documentation downloadable at the following link:
Device technical documentation comprehensive of all the required information listed in the documentation downloadable at the link below must be sent to us together with the EC type-examination application.

Certottica guarantees impartiality in all its certification work. Specifically, Certottica is responsible for the impartiality of its certification work and under no circumstances permits commercial, economic, financial or other pressures to jeopardise this.
For information regarding the validity of EU type examination certificates issued by Certottica S.c.r.l., a written request must be sent to the following email address: info@certottica.it.
Clients may also submit a report and/or complaint to CERTOTTICA regarding the activities performed. 1Reports and/or complaints to Certottica can be sent by fax or recorded delivery letter.
