International Standardization

Certottica guarantees high quality standards by monitoring the national and international standards framework constantly with a view to safeguarding firms and their products and monitoring market evolutions. In addition to managing the Technical Board’s secretarial office and that of ANFAO’s specific subcommittees, the group’s researchers also sit on a great many other technical boards in the three main bodies working in the standards sector.

ISO – International Organization for Standardization (Optics and Photonics Technical Commission, Optics Ophthalmics and Optical Instruments, Technical Commission Individual Safety Clothing and Protective Devices).

CEN – Comité Européen de Normalisation (Optics and Ophthalmics Technical Board, Eye Protection Device Technical Board, Methods of Allergen Analysis Technical Board).

UNI – Ente Nazionale Italiano per l’Unificazione (Biomedical and Diagnostic Technologies, Optics and Photonics).

STANDARDS

ANFAO Technical Board

Certottica is responsible for the ANFAO Technical Board secretarial office (national optical article manufacturing association) and its four subcommittees relating to:

• Frames

• Allergens

• Sunglasses and protective eyewear

• Ophthalmic lenses

The Technical Board is responsible for:

  • assessing problems of a technical nature reported by members;

  • critically examining standards relevant to the sector;

  • contributing to drawing up and drafting standards;

  • notifying the association of problems of a technical nature;

  • liaising with, and guaranteeing participation on, the relevant UNI, CEN and ISO technical commissions, and appointing delegates to them;

  • liaising with notified laboratories, with specific reference to Certottica, to verify testing methodologies and obtain information on product assessment;

  • ensuring information is shared and assessing the need to hold meetings on subjects of specific interest.
